New Delhi: Taking a toll on ‘Love Jihad' further, another incident has risen up in Gwalior, where a marriage between a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy has been deemed as invalid.
The marriage that unfortunately lasted for a few days was interrupted by Bajrang Dal, who claimed it was a case of ‘love jihad.' It didn't take long for the administration too to declare that marriage is not valid.
The entire issue emerged when the parents of the girl said she was missing and filed a police case, seeking the help of Bajrang Dal. After the girl was traced with the help of both Police and Bajrang Dal, the girl refused to return to her parents.
The 19-year-old even appeared in Kotwali police station Saturday with a notarized document stating that she had converted to Islam and married a Muslim man named Tauhid.
As she submitted the proof of her being major to the Police, the Second Year B.Com student even stated that she was in love with Tauhid and that she had married him out of her own choice without letting any external influence dominating her decision. She further cleared that neither she was kidnapped nor tortured.
According to Kotwali police station in-charge Satish Chaturvedi, the affidavit of marriage could not be counted as it was dated December 27 and conversion requires a procedure that she had not properly followed. Tauhid's elder brother Ahmedulla and his wife also arrived at the station to take the girl home.
The girl was then presented before sub-divisional magistrate (Lashkar) Mahip Tejaswee who added that both the girl and the boy are major. The administration was preparing to send the girl to Nari Niketan before she consummated the matter by agreeing on staying with a female relative in Gwalior who lives separately.
Bajrang Dal activists indulged in a brawl with Chaturvedi when he asked them to leave in order to talk to the girl in their absence.
