New Delhi: Prime Minister Narenra Modi today morning greeted the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of the Chhath Puja.
“My greetings on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. May the blessings of the Sun God brighten our lives with joy, peace & prosperity,” the Prime Minister said in a twitter post.
Today is the third day of four-day long Chhath Puja which is performed to thank Lord Sun for sustaining life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes.
Devotees will today evening perform the ‘Sandhya Arghya' (evening offerings) to the setting Sun.
Tomorrow, the fourth and final day of the festival, devotees will perform Usha Arghya (morning offerings) to the rising Sun.
According to Hindu calendar, the festival is celebrated on the sixth day of the Kartik month.
