New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent his greetings to fellow countrymen on the occasion of birthday of Guru Nanak Devji.
In a message, the Prime Minister said, “I bow to the venerable Guru Nanak Devji on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The life & teachings of Guru Nanak Devji inspire us eternally. Let us follow the path of compassion, truth and peace as shown by him.”
“Today is also a day to pledge to embrace the path of service & work towards a just and equal society, free from any kind of social evils," the Prime Minister added.
Guru Nanak Jayanti is also known as ‘Guru Nanak's Prakash Utsav' and ‘Guru Nanak Gurpurab'.
This sacred day marks the significance of the birth of the first Sikh Guru – Guru Nanak. This day is celebrated like a festival which falls in the month of Kartik.
It is one of the most religious days celebrated in Sikh religion.
