New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that ‘knowledge' is the focal point of all religion.
Modi said this while launching a book titled "Education of Muslims: An Islamic Perspective of Knowledge and Education – Indian Context", written by JS Rajput.
Speaking at the release function, Prime Minister described "knowledge" ("ilm") as the focal point of all religions.
Putting emphasis on the significance of moving towards modernity, Modi said, “if the religion does not embrace modernity, it will be left behind, as the rest of the world progresses”.
“It is the good fortune of people living in India, that we have the opportunity to follow, understand and learn so many different religions, and strands of thoughts, at one place,” he added.
Furthermore, the prime minster pointed out that India has become the polio free country and is prepared to take on the responsibility to eliminate it from the map of entire SAARC region.
In this context, the Prime Minister also spoke about India's SAARC satellite, which will work for the benefit of the entire SAARC region.
Talking on ‘Education of Muslims', he said the book can help us in our efforts towards "understanding each other" – understanding different points of view.
PM Modi complimented the book's editor, Shri J.S. Rajput and Shri Sirajuddin Qureshi, who has written the foreword for the book.
