New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday directed 13 of his ministers to seek feedback of their performance from public.
In a meeting that took lasted for over two hours, with all Ministers of State with Independent Charge, Modi asked them to connect with people. BJP president Amit Shah was also present in the meeting.
Urging the ministers to work in a transparent manner, Prime minister asked them to frame policies in public interest.
Sources say the prime minister asked them if the ministers were facing any problems and asked them to stay in touch with him.
After the meeting, some ministers said it was a "good exercise" and should take place on a regular basis.
Today's meet was significant especially after BJP's ideological mentor, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS warned the government over its growing disconnect within the party over the past few months.
In a coordination meeting that evaluated the BJP's debacle in the February Delhi election, the RSS told top leaders to tackle the widening chasm and fight negative perception about the government.
It was decided that Amit Shah would meet with party workers twice a month; he has been regularly meeting ministers at the party headquarters.
