Kanpur, Aug 2: Four persons including a teenager lost their lives this morning due to poisonous gas emanating from a sewerage tank.




 
The 12-year-old boy Sandip had gone inside the tank to retrieve a Rs 100 currency note.
 
Soon after, his father Mukesh jumped inside the tank to save his boy. Two other villagers Neeraj and Surendra also went inside the tank to save the father and his son.
 
All of them died of poisonous gas emanating from inside the tank, police said.
 
Tension gripped Magrasa village near Bidhnu, 45 km away from Kanpur, as the villagers demanded that the police hand over the four bodies sent for post mortem to the hospital.
 
Villagers resorted to stoning, and obstructed the Kanpur-Hamirpur highway and police had to resort to lathicharge.
