Hyderabad: The Customs today seized one kg gold bar worth Rs 30 lakhs from a passenger at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad here.

On suspicion, the Air Intelligence Unit of Hyderabad Customs intercepted Syed Zaffar Ali Khan and after a thorough check found one kg gold bar and one yellow colour stone (approximately valued at Rs 5 lakh) concealed in his undergarment, a Customs official said.

Syed, a resident of Charminar here, arrived from Dubai by a flight at RGIA last midnight, the official said.  He was arrested after recovery of the valuables.

Syed was allegedly trying to smuggle the gold and supply it to some persons here ahead of festival season, the official added.
