Jammu: Pakistani troops today fired on Indian posts in Poonch sector along Line of Control (LoC) which has witnessed almost daily ceasefire violations since the killing of five Indian soldiers on August 6.
Pakistani troops fired on Indian forward posts with small arms and automatic weapons along the LoC in the Poonch area around 0700 hrs today, Defence Spokesperson Col R K Palta said, adding, no casualty was reported.
Indian troops guarding the border line retaliated strongly, triggering exchanges which continued till 0740 hrs, he said.
There was no loss of life or injuries to any trooper in Pak firing, he added.
The Pakistani troops have been daily resorting to ceasefire violations since August six when its special forces killed five Indian soldiers in Poonch.
There have been over 80 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops this year from January 1.
Defence Minister A K Antony had recently stated that the Army has been given a free hand to retaliate to deal with violations on the Line of Control.
Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh has also asked his commanders to be aggressive in case of ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army.
