Over 10,000 weddings took place in the capital Saturday as well.
According to the municipal authorities, of the 235 banquets and community halls civic bodies have in the city, "majority of them were booked for weddings".
"Only the smaller ones are empty otherwise all of them are booked - majority of them for marriages," Yogendra Mann, spokesperson of North and East MCD, told IANS, but he could not confirm the over 10,000 figure.
