Wayanad: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Monday said that "it was possible" for the BJP-led NDA government to slash the prices of petrol and diesel further as the price of crude oil has "dipped considerably" in the international market.
"Since the price of crude oil has dipped considerably in the last few months when compared to the price during the period of UPA government, so it was possible to slash the price of petrol and diesel by Rs. 30 and 20 respectively from the present rate," Mr Chandy said at a Congress party function.
The CM said price of petroleum products were hiked during UPA Government due to the increase in the price of crude oil in the International market.
It was due to the persistent pressure put by the Congress MPs that the Narendra Modi government reduced the price of petrol and diesel three times, he said.
Chandy inaugurated the KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) bus station constructed at Thazheyangadi in the district.
