Kolkata: One person died on Friday from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), a health official said.
One person from Basirhat died because of AES at the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital in the last 24 hours, West Bengal Health Services Director Biswaranjan Satpathy said.
Taking into account another AES death in May last, which was then reported as an accident, the toll in the state because of different types of Encephalitis rose to 221 (RPT 221), the official said.
Meanwhile, two suspected cases of AES were reported from north Bengal and three from southern parts of the state, Satpathy added.
