Vadodara: A person identified as Bipin Rana died in a wall collapse in the Fatehpura area of the city here yesterday, official sources said.
The wall fell on him when he was passing through the area. Doctors declared him brought dead when he was taken to the hospital, after he sustained injuries on his chest and legs.
This is the second such death reported from the city and district during the past 24 hours. Simliben Rathwa, a woman had died in Borchapda village of Kawan taluka day before yesterday, after she was buried under a building which collapsed in her village.
Heavy rains have continued to lash the district, while the water level at bridges across the Vishwamitri river located in the middle of the city, has risen to 29 feet, which is three feet above the danger level.
Vadodara Deputy Municipal Commissioner C M Makwana said that more than 3900 people from waterlogged areas of the city have been shifted to safer places.
