Srinagar: One jawan was killed in an infiltration bid today by Pakistani intruders which were foiled in Kanchan area.
In a stand off between the militants, S Patil, a jawan from 15 Rashtriya Rifles was injured when they opened fire at him 15 kms east of Shalla Batu.
Patil was shifted to a local hospital where he was declared dead.
Earlier, eight militants were killed in the fortnight-long anti-infiltration operation in Keran Sector which was called off on October 8.
