Srinagar, Jul 14: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today lashed out at BJP for blaming Pakistan for the serial attacks in Mumbai saying it should wait for the investigations to be completed.
“I will request everyone, from L K Advani and others, that until it is not clear who is behind these attacks we should not blame others. It is our bad habit that we first put the blame and then try to find proof to prove our blame right,” Omar told reporters here.
He said less than 24 hours after blasts in Mumbai, in which 18 people have died and more than 130 injured, senior BJP leaders came out to blame Pakistan. “Who is behind it (attacks), let investigations be complete. Then, everything will be in front of us,” he said. Omar said whether or not the Mumbai attacks will have an impact on Indo-Pak talks will be decided once the investigations are complete and it is clear who is behind the attacks.
“When Samjhauta train attack took place we first blamed the neighbouring country, but then we came to know it was our own people who did it to disturb the communal harmony in the country. I am not saying who is behind these attacks, I am only requesting that until we do not have solid proof we should not blame anyone,” he said.
Omar also said it was unfortunate that after every few years Mumbai city is attacked.
Earlier, Omar had appealed to people via his Twitter account to desist from speculating about who can be behind the attacks.
“Can we have a little more of facts and a little less of rumours about who is behind the attack. If we don't know as yet let's say we don't know,” Omar wrote on the micro blogging.
Omar said even though few groups were being talked about, the truth was not yet known.
“I (ha)ve heard everything from I.M. (Indian Mujahideen) to a Kashmir based LeT (Lashkar-e-Toiba) module and a whole lot of groups in between but the truth is we don't know as yet,” Omar said.
Commenting on the spirit of Mumbai to keeping going, Omar said the dicourse has gone “tiresome” as no one gave them a “bloody choice”.
“And yes, while I'm at it this whole Mumbai Spirit thing is a bit tiresome now because let's face it no one gave them a bloody choice anyway,” he said. PTI
