Ranaghat/Kolkata: An elderly nun was allegedly gang-raped by dacoits at Gangnapur in Nadia district early today triggering blockade of road and rail tracks as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered a CID probe into the incident.

Sources say five people have been detained by the West Bengal police in the connection with the gang-rape of a nun at convent school.

Out of the five detained, two have been directly linked to the incident.

The victim, who was critically injured, is admitted in the hospital and according to the doctors, her condition is stable now.

According to the CCTV footage, three men, who are suspected to be rapists, are seen inside the convent school's staff room.

The dacoits broke into the convent after 12:30 am and three-four of them raped the woman after gagging her, said authorities of the local convent school in Ranaghat sub-division.

According to the police, the dacoits also looted Rs. 8-9 lakh of administrative funds including students' fees and church ransacked after committing the crime.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered CID probe into the rape incident.

District Magistrate PB Salim, who rushed to the spot, termed it as a “heinous act” and said “We are yet to get a full picture of the incident."
