Patna: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi today trashed the interim budget of Bihar for 2014-15, saying it was a repeat of proposals made by him in the last year's budget.
Modi, who also held the finance portfolio for eight years, alleged that the JD(U) government has deviated from tradition by failing to present a full-fledged budget this time.
Claiming that the state government has in a way mocked the budget itself, the former deputy chief minister said no concession has been announced in the proposals under the interim budget for 2014-15 nor any new scheme or project has been announced by the state government.
Taking potshot at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for not presenting the interim budget himself despite holding the finance portfolio, Modi said in many states the Chief Ministers themselves present the budget in their capacity as finance minister.
But Kumar thought it as below his dignity to do so, he said, adding that the state government also did not seek suggestions from various sections of the society to incorporate their expectations and thus broke the tradition that he had initiated in his capacity as the then finance minister.
