Jaipur, Nov 11 : Apparently having Anna Hazare in mind, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said that non-political people can lead movements but cannot bring a change of rule.
“There was a discussion that it seemed that everything was moving towards non-political organisations. Non-political people can lead movements but they cannot bring a change of rule (satta parivartan). Because for this, the alternative will have to be searched from within active politics,” she told a Jan Chetna Yatra rally here. She, however, did not name Hazare.
“People have begun losing faith in politics and politicians who face people's mistrust. There is need for a person whose reputation is spotless and who has earned trust through his behaviour. I thank Advaniji for undertaking the yatra,” she said.
Swaraj also criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issues of corruption and price rise. “A person who is leading a corrupt government cannot claim to be honest. If you are an economist then why don't you hear the voices against inflation,” she asked.
In his speech, Advani said, “The public is indeed troubled by corruption. But if there is a strong emotion towards devotion to Ram then there is a strong emotion for the rashtra also. And it is in the interest of the rashtra that the governance should be clean and corruption free.”
