New Delhi:  The Indian Air Force today said there was no civilian casualties in the MiG 27 crash that took place last evening in West Bengal.

The aircraft had taken off from Hasimara station at 2024 hours yesterday on a routine training mission, IAF spokesman said.

After take off, the aircraft had developed a "technical snag" and the pilot was forced to abandon the aircraft.

The pilot ejected at a place near Alipurduar, 40km South-East of Hasimara.

The ejection was safe and the aircraft crashed in an empty field, 4km east of Alipurduar, the IAF said.

"As confirmed from civil authorities, there has been no casualities or injuries to any one," the spokesman added.
