New Delhi: The juvenile convict in 2012 Delhi Nirbhaya gang-rape case will be kept under an NGO and be monitored for a year after his release later this month.

The juvenile was the youngest of six men who raped and brutally tortured a 23-year-old medical student on a moving bus in the national capital three years ago.

Nirbhaya's family, which had demanded that the now 21-year-old be kept in jail, has expressed disappointment over the development.

“The government has slapped Nirbhaya's parents and the entire society with this,” the victim's father said on the reports.

Her mother reiterated the demand and said that the four convicts must be hanged and the juvenile convict should be in jail as he is danger to the society.

Earlier, the parents of Nirbhaya had demanded that the face of juvenile convict who was the "most brutal" of all the six offenders, should be shown to the world before he is released citing "he is a threat to the society".

They had also made representations to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

"Also, he was the most brutal of all the six and he is showing no signs of remorse about what he has done. His release will be a threat to the society. We don't want that what has happened with out daughter is repeated. If at all he is to be released, his face should be shown to the world," the father of the woman had said.

Union minister Maneka Gandhi had also advocated that a 'close watch' be kept on the convict after he completes his sentence.

Last month, after the reports that the juvenile had been radicalised during his stay in the rehabilitation centre, Delhi Police was contemplating to book him under the National Security Act.

The detention under NSA can stretch for one year.

The juvenile convict's three-year term in the rehabilitation centre is coming to an end on December 16 even as his four adult accomplices await the Supreme Court's decision on their appeal against death penalty given to them. As per law he is to be set free after completion of the term.
