Srinagar: Night temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir improved on Tuesday because of a cloud cover although Kargil town remained frozen at minus 13 degrees Celsius, an official said.
Srinagar city recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 5 in Gulmarg and minus 3.2 in Pahalgam.
"Kargil was the coldest town in the state at minus 13 degrees while the neighbouring town of Leh recorded minus 7.5 degrees Tuesday," an official of the Met department said.
The minimum temperature in Jammu city was 5.7 degrees Celsius.
The official said the weather was expected to remain cold and dry across the state during the next 24 hours.
