Panchsheel Nagar (Hapur), April 15 : A nine-day-old infant was buried alive by his parents inside an earthen pot on the advice of a tantrik here for two days.

On Saturday morning, neighbours heard the sound of a child crying. They dug up the place to find an earthen pot in which the infant was kept.

The child has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition, while his mother Anita has been arrested.

The tantrik is absconding.

Lalit Kumar Singh, SSP, Panchsheel Nagar, said, the  newborn infant was facing health problems since its birth, and its parents consulted a tantrik, who advised them to bury the child inside an earthen pot to cure the infant's malady.

The incident took place in Adarsh Colony of Hapur,  nearly 50 km away from Delhi.
