Hyderabad: A one-day-old baby boy, who was allegedly kidnapped by a woman from a government hospital here, was traced by the police yesterday in Tenali town of Guntur district, after she was taken into custody, the police said.
Mariamma alias Mary, introduced herself to the baby's father Y Manohar and took him into confidence by helping him out by bringing medicines, among other things, when his wife was admitted to the hospital for delivery on Friday.
His wife delivered a boy yesterday and was shifted to the hospital's general ward, they said.
However, Mary allegedly took away the new born baby boy with her this morning, claiming that she would take him to the doctor, but went missing from the hospital, the police said.
“A police team found Mary with the new born baby boy in Tenali and she was subsequently taken into custody. Efforts are on to reunite the baby boy with his parents,” a police officer said.
