New Delhi: North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta on Friday accused the AAP government of "stepmotherly treatment", saying on one hand it has increased its education budget one-and-a-half times, while it has slashed the NDMC's budget under the education head by "Rs 158 crore".
In a meeting with members at All India Council of Mayor organised here Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia claimed that on the education they have increased the budget by one-and-a-half times, but he did not inform that they have cut the corporation's education budget, Gupta said.
Gupta also asked the Deputy Chief Minister as to why despite having been decided by the Delhi government to give the grant of Rs 620 crore to North Delhi Municipal Corporation, till date only Rs 432 crore have been received.
He said that Delhi Government have to answer why they "slashed the Rs 158 crore" from education fund.
The Mayor said that NDMC provides primary education to the children in which most of them were from weaker section of the society.
He also alleged that the Delhi government was only working with its own agenda and boost their "false" achievements.
Gupta said a letter in this context has been written to the Deputy Chief Minister.
