Raipur: A Naxal, who was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, was arrested in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh yesterday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, Rajuram, alias Vikas, was apprehended by a team of local police from a weekly market of Tadoki village, Kanker Superintendent of Police R N Dash told PTI.
Rajuram was reportedly a member of Keshkal Area Committee of Communist Party of India (Maoist), mostly active in northern Bastar region, the SP said.
“He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh and thirty warrants had been issued against him,” the SP said, adding Rajuram was wanted in several cases of loot, arson, murder and attacks on police.
Police were on his trail for some time and picked him up this evening, Dash said.
Police believe Rajuram was about to carry out a major operation in Tadoki area.
