Bhopal: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) plans to organise its three-day long open hearing and camp sitting at Bhopal to hear complaints of aggrieved people, it was announced here today.

“A high-level delegation of the NHRC, led by Chairperson, Justice K G Balakrishnan and members Justice Cyriac Joseph, Justice D Murugesan, S C Sinha and senior officers will be visiting Bhopal in connection with the Commission's Open Hearing and Camp Sitting being held at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, Bhopal, an official release said.

The camp will be organised from September 10 to September 12. Justice Balakrishnan would inaugurate the open hearing, it said.

The Commission would hear 74 complaints of aggrieved people belonging to Scheduled Caste communities and problems faced by them in seeking justice from government agencies.  These complaints were received in response to a public notice published in national and local dailies.

In connection with these complaints, responses of the authorities concerned have been called for, which would be taken up during the open hearing in the presence of senior officers and complainants, the release said.

The aim of the camp sitting is to dispose of pending cases concerning a particular state by hearing senior government officers, sensitising them about importance of human rights issues, compliance of NHRC recommendations by them and meeting local NGOs to get insights into problems being faced by the people, it said.
