New Delhi: The National Commission for Women has issued a suo-motu notice to Delhi Police in connection with the alleged rape of a 27-year-old woman executive by a cab driver asking them to submit a report within 15 days.  The Commission also issued a notice to the international taxi service Uber in connection with the case.

“I have spoken to Police Commissioner B S Bassi this morning about the case. We have issued a suo-motu notice to the Delhi Police and sought a report within 15 days. We have also issued a notice to Uber in connection with the case,” said NCW chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has summoned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uber in the case involving one of its drivers.“I have called the local CEO of the cab company today. We will try our best to ensure that the company is closed.

Also, how the company started operating in India needs to be investigated,” DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla said.  The Delhi Government had yesterday banned Uber from operating in the national capital. Besides that, officials of Uber will be questioned by police for the second consecutive day today in connection with the case.
