New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi might announce a giant present for NRIs on the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiye Divas. According to the sources, PM Modi is likely to announce equal voting rights for Indians living overseas as a gift to them.
The President has given his consent to the citizenship ordinance aimed at merging PIO and OCI cards as proposed by Narendra Modi government. After the merger, the PIO card holders would be able to make use of the facilities enjoyed by the OCI card holders.
Those with OCI cards are entitled for lifetime visa and are free to work anywhere in the country. The name of the new card is likely to be ‘Indian Overseas.'
In his speech, PM Narednra Modi is also expected to discuss programs like Make in India, Namami Gange, and Digital India and many others. The other issues that Modi can refer to during his speech include ‘Clean India Campaign' and ‘Ease of Doing Business.'
Announcement regarding a structured road map for his much publicized ‘Clean India Campaign' is likely to come up. The entire focus of PM Narendra Modi during this program would be to present a novel and developing picture of India in front of NRIs.
