New Delhi: With the stage set for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction with students on Friday on Teachers' Day, 600 students have been drawn from government schools in Delhi, along with another 100 from Kendriya Vidyalayas, to listen to him at Manekshaw Auditorium in Delhi.
These 700 students would be among the 1,000-odd people filling the auditorium where Mr Modi would deliver a speech and take about 15 questions from students from various parts of the country through video-conferencing facility. The programme will start at 3 pm and conclude at 4.45 pm.
CBSE officials said 40 students from the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and five students from army schools would be part of the student community at the auditorium. There will also be a sizeable number of teachers present at the auditorium. (This School Will Test Students on PM Modi's Teachers' Day Speech)
"After the PM completes his address, he is expected to take about 15 questions. However, it will depend on the availability of time," officials said.
Hectic preparations were on at the auditorium yesterday from where Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani gave away the CBSE Teachers Awards.
Some of the award winners at the function appeared excited at the prospect of the interaction with the prime minister.
"The PM would be a source of inspiration and there is enthusiasm all around in my state surrounding the event," said the principal of a CBSE school in Tamil Nadu.
Officials said that while most government schools have made arrangements for screening the event, information about that was still awaited from private schools.
They said that a few private schools in Delhi were observing a holiday for the day while a few others have sent SMSes to parents requesting them to ask their wards to tune in to the Prime Minister's address. The HRD Ministry has asked schools in the various states to prepare an attendance report for the event.
