Ahmedabad, Sept 18: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, sitting on a 3-day-long fast here has said, he was ready to face even the death sentence if he was found guilty of 2002 riots which led to the killings of several thousand people.

In an interview to media, Modi said: "Hang me if I am found guilty, but for God's sake, stop this votebank politics."Modi consistently said he was not going to reply to any attack from the Congress.

On the Gujarat Lokayukta appointment issue, the chief minister said, several state governments are presently worried about the Centre's attitude which is an assault on the federal structure. "It is not only Gujarat's problem, similar complaints have come from several other state governments too".

On Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his partymen not attending the fast, Modi said, it was his (Nitish) personal decision. "I will take all criticisms positively."

Asked about his political future, Modi said, he had no specific plan as such, but "whatever I do, I do with utmost zeal. I travel to Delhi lesser nowadays."

Reporters of several news channels pestered Modi with the question about the possibilities of him being projected by the BJP as a Prime Ministerial candidate, but the chief minister cleverly bypassed this issue and merely said that he would continue to work for Gujarat's progress.
