Telugu Desam Party (TDP)president N Chandrababu Naidu has requested Union External Affairs Minister S M Krishna to arrange for bringing the body of a medical student who died under mysterious circumstances near Shanghai in China.
Mamidi Sandeep Chakravarthy, hailing from Hira in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, was pursuing medical education at the School of South-Eastern International University near Shanghai in the Nanzing province of China.
He died under suspicious circumstances two days ago, Chandrababu noted in a letter to the Union Minister on Monday.
"Chakravarthy's parents are poor and illiterate and with great difficulty they could finance his studies in China. They are now crestfallen and need government's support to get the body of their son," Chandrababu said.
He wanted this to be treated as a special case and the body of the student be brought to India at government's expense since his parents could not afford it. PTI
