Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today expressed dismay over the death of over 10 people in different road accidents in East Godavari, Krishna, Srikakulam and other districts in the state.
Naidu spoke to district collectors and revenue department officials of the respective districts. The Chief Minister was informed that the road accidents have happened due to drivers' negligence, a state government release said.
Affirming that officials need to ensure road safety, the Chief Minister said negligent driving is costing many lives. He directed officials to be stringent while granting licenses to drivers.
Asking the district collectors to create awareness on road safety through campaigns, the Chief Minister ordered revenue officials to conduct regular checks on vehicles. “Worn out vehicles or those outdated should be banned,” he said.
He has also directed officials to install signboards in accident-prone areas and construct speed-breakers wherever necessary.
He added that patrolling on National Highways too should be increased, the release added.
