Nagpur: A new express train between Nagpur and Ajmer in Rajasthan was flagged off yesterday.
City Lok Sabha MP Vilas Muttemwar flagged off the weekly train which connects the two cities having places of religious significance.
The train was announced in this year's Railway Budget.
Its launch fulfils the long-standing demand of people from Central India for a direct rail service to Ajmer, which houses the shrine of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and is also the base for visiting nearby Pushkar, an ancient Hindu pilgrimage town.
Local MLAs and senior Railway officials attended the function where the service was launched. The train (No 11203) will leave Nagpur every Thursday and reach Ajmer the next day.
On its return journey, the train (11204) will leave Ajmer every Friday and reach the orange city the next day.
