Kolkata: A mystery fever has struck Kolkata and hundreds of children, aged between three and 10 years, have been affected in the last couple of weeks.
The symptoms of the ailment are close to scarlet fever. Scarlet is an infection that most commonly affects children aged between four and eight years.
Symptoms include sore throat, fever and a characteristic red rash. It is usually spread by inhalation.
There is no vaccine, but the disease is effectively treated with antibiotics.
Doctors have sent samples of the affected kids and waiting for the reports whether it's scarlet fever or any other virus similar to scarlet.
