Muzaffarnagar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Uttar Pradesh government has completed its probe in 254 cases registered in connection with September's Muzaffarnagar riots, police said today.
The SIT has completed its investigation into 254 cases and the report has been sent to the police stations concerned for necessary action in the district, Mukul Goel, Uttar Pradesh ADGP (Law and Order) told reporters here.
A total of 598 cases were registered against more than 6,000 people and 184 have been arrested so far, Goel said.
The SIT was tasked by the state government to probe the riots in Muzaffarnagar district that had left over 60 persons dead and rendered thousands homeless.
