Prince of Wales Museum
Located near the Gateway of India, Mumbai, Prince of Wale Museum, is presently known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya.
Founded in the early 20th century, the museum was built to commemorate the visit of the then Prince of Wales.
Built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, the Prince of Wales Museum comprises of a good collection of ancient Indus Valley artifacts dating back to 2000 BC, plus some priceless Tibetan and Nepali Art.
The architecture of the museum also depicts the other architectural styles like Mughal, Maratha and Jain.
The main feature of the Prince of Wales Museum is the collection of over 2000 miniature paintings from the various art schools of India.
