Mumbai: Mumbai transport and education department  has now finally introduced a new school bus safety  policy.

The policy was first released in March 2011 in English later on September 14, 2011, the education department issued a GR with the Marathi translation but there was an error in its Marathi translation which has been rectified.

Now, over two years later, the education department released the corrected policy document.

The document, outlining ‘safety rules and regulations' pertaining to school buses, was uploaded on the government website in Marathi as well as English.

According to the policy, no school shall allow any student to come to school by vehicles other than buses provided by the school.

However, this shall not be applicable to those students who walk or use public transport (excluding taxis and autos) or where the school is unable to provide a bus route and the principal of the school shall be responsible for safe transportation of children.
