New Delhi: Outgoing Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria today morning denied reports that he is mulling to resign.
"I am not thinking of resigning. Reports saying so are not true," Maria said.
Maria's reaction came in the wake of several media reports suggesting that he is unhappy with the government's decision to promote him as the new Director General of Police (Home Guards) and thus he is thinking of putting down his papers.
The state government yesterday replaced Maria by another equally fine IPS officer, Javed Ahmed. The Mumbai Police Commissioner's post is equivalent to that of Director General.
Media reports also claimed that Maria wanted to resign immediately after he was pulled up over his 2014 meeting with former IPL chief Lalit Modi in July but was waiting for his promotion as DGP.

Maria had requested the state government for a transfer to a non-executive post as his elder son Kunal is likely to get marry by year end.
Maria - who recently hogged limelight for his investigations into sensational Sheena Bora murder case - was due to be promoted on September 30, but the process was advanced to enable the police officers to settle down before the festive season.
Maria has pointed to his investigations in the 1993 serial blasts, the twin Gateway blasts in 2003, and the Neeraj Grover case as proof of his interest in solving complex whodunits. He is also reported to have said that ACP Sanjay Kadam and PI Dinesh Kadam were transferred to the Sheena case only after a committee headed by joint CPs Deven Bharti and Anoop Kumar approved it.
