Mumbai, Delhi put on alert after Paris terror attacks

New Delhi: Several cities in India including New Delhi and the financial capital Mumbai have been put on high alert following multiple terror attacks in France.Intelligence agencies have asked the administration to beef up security

New Delhi: Several cities in India including New Delhi and the financial capital Mumbai have been put on high alert following multiple terror attacks in France.

Intelligence agencies have asked the administration to beef up security around major establishments across various cities after the deadly attacks in Paris that are very similar to the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. Also, vigil has been increased in the bordering areas.

In Mumbai, the city often targeted by terrorists, all police units have been asked to review and access control measures at places with heavy footfall.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti has said in view of terror attacks in the French capital last night, security has been beefed up in Mumbai as well.

The country's financial capital has earlier witnessed deadly terror attacks that claimed scores of lives and injured hundreds.

In Delhi, police said that security has been beefed across the city and officials concerned have been asked to remain more vigilant.

Security at major railway stations, airports, commercial establishments like shopping malls, theatres in major cities have been stepped up.

A series of attacks targeting young concert-goers, soccer fans and Parisians at popular nightspots killed over 150 people in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II.

Meanwhile, there have been no Indian casualties so far in the horrific Paris attacks. "There have been no Indian casualties so far. Some called us for aid and we have helped them in every way," Manish Prabhat, Deputy Chief of Mission in France, said.
