Mumbai, Oct 16: Mumbai Police Tuesday filed a formal set of charges in a court here against Abu Jundal, the alleged handler of the Mumbai attackers, an official said.

The over 13,000-page chargesheet was filed by the crime branch of police before Esplande magistrate.

The chargesheet consisted of 56 volumes and included details of Jundal's role in hatching the plot. It also mentioned details on the confrontation between Jundal and Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist involved in the 2008 Mumbai attack.

According to a police official, the record of Jundal's phone call to two terrorists at Chabad House during the 2008 attack was the most crucial evidence against him.

The voice analysis of the call by the Kalina forensic science laboratory has also been mentioned in the formal set of charges as vital evidence, he said.

Jundal is in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) till Oct 20 to unearth terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT) conspiracy for strikes across India.

Investigators in Maharashtra earlier took Jundal's custody to probe his alleged involvement in the Mumbai attack, the 2010 German Bakery blast in Pune, the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case and a plot to attack the Nashik Police Academy.

The Mumbai attack in 2008 by 10 LeT terrorists left 166 people dead and 238 injured. The German Bakery blast Feb 13, 2010 killed 17 people and injured at least 60 more. In the Aurangabad case, 43 kg of RDX, 50 hand grenades, 16 AK-47 rifles and over 3,000 bullets were seized from two cars on the Chandwad-Manmad Highway.
