New Delhi: A woman in New Delhi has named her newborn Uber after she delivered a baby boy on her way to hospital in an Uber cab .
The woman, Babli was picked from Devli in South Delhi by Shahnawaz Khan, the Uber driver, after several emergency calls for an ambulance went unanswered on Thursday night.
Khan helped the woman who was with two of her women friends. The women called khan when they did not get any response for ambulance.
When they noticed Babli, the pregnant woman, was encountering intense labour pain and heard her crying out that the baby was coming. The duo made the cab a labour room with the help of the driver.
The driver stopped the cab immediately and helped the women with whatever piece of cloth he could find in the car at that moment.
To their surprise, the baby was born even before the traffic signal could change.
As soon as the baby was born Khan, the driver rushed the mother and child to the Safdarjung Hospital, where both are said to be doing fine..
Indebted by the driver's concern towards Babli and her plight, she asked the driver to name the new born baby. Shahnawaz, sublimely named the baby after his company, 'Uber'.
