Ghaziabad, Nov 30: A woman police officer was placed under suspension today for allegedly humiliating and roughing up couples in parks during an anti eve-teasing drive.
SHO Alka Agrawal was suspended and sent to police lines on charges of harassing couples who were chatting in parks in Sahibabad, SSP Raghubir Lal said.
Men, in particular, were also reportedly made to do sit-ups in full public view during Operation Majnu, an anti eve-teasing drive, launched by the Ghaziabad Police.
The operation, which began Monday, was led by the female SHO.
India TV telecasted the humiliation of couples in public by the female police officer in Ram Manohar Lohia Park in Sahibabad.
The female officer had claimed that couples were being rounded up from public places in order to deter youths from eve-teasing girls outside schools and colleges. This was being done under Operation Majnu.
