New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday praised boxing icon M.C. Mary Kom and union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for their effort towards "Swachh Bharat Mission".
"Swachh Bharat Mission will get a great impetus by Mary Kom joining the mission in Imphal," Modi said in a tweet.
Sharing news reports about the work done by the boxing star and Naidu, Modi said: "A very good effort by Venkaiah (ji), to clean beaches in cyclone-affected Visakhapatnam."
Like Modi, who went to Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Diwali with the flood-affected, Naidu also went to Visakhapatnam, hit by cyclon 'Hudhud'.
Besides, Modi applauded religious guru Raghavendra Matha for taking up the clean India initiative.
"The effort by (Sri) Raghavendra Matha is a landmark effort, which is an important step towards a Clean India." Modi said in another tweet.
Modi launched the "Swachh Bharat Mission" campaign Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
