School authorities in Mizoram announced they have banned students to wear short skirts for the girls and tight pants for the boys from the next academic session, after getting pressure from a student body in the state.
Though, school children wear uniforms the student body – Mizo Zirlai Pawl had earlier complaint about the way certain students wear them. Therefore, Mizoram's School Education Department had constituted ‘Committee on Indecent School Dress and Hairstyle' earlier this year.
Any student violating this order will be fined Rs 300 firstly and then being found on further violation of the rule the fine may be Rs.500, if the student is found repeating the same for the third time, he or she will face an expulsion from the school.
The strict rule will be implemented from 2011 academic year.
