Mizoram polls: Refugees in Tripura cast postal ballots

The elections to the 40-seat Mizoram assembly are scheduled to be held Nov 25.


Six voting centers have been set up in the refugee camps in north Tripura for 11, 340 eligible refugee voters.

The highest number of voters is from Mamit district with 8799 voters while the lowest is from Lawnhtlai district with a single voter.

The facilitation centres have been set up under the guidance of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The commission has been supervising the electoral work at these centres with 74 desk officials, four nodal officials and micro-observers.

Tripura government has provided the logistical support like security to these facilitation centers.

The ECI appointed Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha as the special observer.

Adequate security arrangements have been made with paramilitary forces brought in from Tripura and Mizoram for a free and fair poll.
