Missionary School In AP Punishes Children For Speaking In Mother Tongue

A major crisis is brewing in Andhra Pradesh' Kadappah district (home district of former chief minister Y S Rajshekhara Reddy)  as a missionary school, St Joseph School, in Maidukur has punished two students for speaking in their mother tongue Telugu by hanging placards from their necks saying "I will never speak Telugu'.

 
The state Education department has ordered a probe to find out as to on whose orders the placards were hung from the neck of the students. A notice is being sent to the principal of the missionary school, sources said.

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister has said that the culprits in this case would definitely be punished and if found necessary the recognition given to the school will be withdrawn.
