Batala (Punjab), Oct 8 : A minority group here has taken strong exception of a recent Facebook content allegedly showing Sikh Gurus under bad light, and said the post, “submitted” through a “fake” account, tried to malign the community and create a communal rift.

The post attempted to “drag” the community into the controversy and tried to sow seeds of discord, a group of Ahmadiya Muslims said today.

“The Ahmadiya Muslims always hold the Sikh Gurus in the highest esteem. The Jamaat strongly condemns this heinous act and seeks strict punishment for the culprits,” said Mohammad Nasim Khan, spokesman of the Ahmadiya Muslim Jamaat.

“We not only give utmost respect to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, but also have respect for the founders of other religions,” Khan said.

Meanwhile, a case of cyber crime has been registered against unidentified persons in connection with the case, police said.
