Bangalore:  Bellary district in-charge minister P T Parameshwar Naik yesterday refuted Congress MLA Anil Lad's allegations that some local leaders were responsbile for the denial of a ministerial berth for him.

“I am not involved in denying him (Lad) a ministerial berth,” he told reporters replying to Lad's allegations here.

Lad, who expressed dissatisfaction over not being made a minister, told reporters in Bellary yesterday that some local leaders were responsible for the denial of a ministerial berth for him.

Naik said he had not lobbied for a ministerial berth at any point of time and he was inducted due to his loyalty to the Congress High Command. “I will carry out any decision made by the High Command,” he added. He also said there were no differences with Lad either.

Lad, who is also a mine lessee, had denied any involvement in the illegal export of iron ore through the Belikeri port and added he had not been issued notices by investigation agencies.

Questioning the criteria for inducting his brother Santosh Lad into the ministry despite facing allegations of illegal mining, Lad had said he would wait for another six months to be made a minister.

Refuting his brother's claims, Santosh said in Dharwad yesterday that there were no allegations of illegal mining against him.
