After remaining free from fog for three days, Met Department on Tuesday  predicted a second spell of dense fog which is likely to descend upon the airport from tomorrow and affect schedules of several flights.

'After a brief respite, the second spell of dense fog is likely to return from tomorrow evening, as western disturbances have become active and were passing through the northern region. This is likely bring dense fog over the entire region," Director of Airport Met office R K Jenamani said.

The fog could cover the entire region for next three to four days and disrupt flight operations not only in the national capital but also at the airports in adjoining cities, he said.

The city has not witnessed dense fog during the past four days due to strong winds. The runway visibility remained over 2,000 metres during this period and flight rations were normal.

Jenamani said the city might experience a brief spell of light rain tomorrow, which may bring a fresh spell of moisture content, making the environment conducive to formation of dense fog.

About 250 domestic and international flights were disrupted for four days early this month at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here because of dense fog. PTI
