Mumbai: Gaurav Sharma is a Mumbaikar. Known as the Spiderman of India, he has climbed Multi story buildings of the city without any external support, using just a safety line made of rope wrapped around his waist.He made a successful entry into Limca Book of Records by climbing the facade of the Shreepati Arcade, one of the tallest buildings in Mumbai located at Nana Chowk in 19 min and 4 seconds on January 26, 2009 as a tribute to the victims of the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai.He is a black belt in Judo and Goju Rio.Sharma runs a coaching institute named GSLS which train youngsters in various sporting activities and stunt.Being an adventure sports lover, he has taken part in numerous rock climbing events.He has also climbed a 240-feet-tall building Darshan Heights, with just a rope to support him in 10 minutes and 11 seconds by using Chimney Climbing technique.He stated in an interview to a local channel that he has been inspired by Alan Robert, the real life Spiderman. His final goal is to climb the world's tallest man-made structure which is the 830 meters high Burj Khalifa building in Dubai, which he intends to do next year 2015, he revealed in an interview to a news channel.Now this stunt man is on the way to try his luck in Politics as he is contesting as an independent from the Mumbai South seat.While declaring his candidature for the same Sharma said his poll campaign would see him climbing buildings. “I won't be climbing buildings taller than 10 stories. Since I can't spend that much money, me and my family and friends would be canvassing for me,” he said.As per him he has entered the poll arena as he wants to highlight the issue of redevelopment of old buildings in South Mumbai due to CRZ and other difficulties. He wants civil defence to be made part of the curriculum.
