Meerut (UP), Feb 24: The dancers had been brought to attract crowds to RLD chief Ajit Singh's rally here, but what happened went totally against the script.
As four dancers, one by one, performed on stage, even as Ajit Singh was waxing eloquent about his party before a large crowd, a large number of unruly teenagers gathered around the dancers oblivious to the Civil Aviation Minister's hectoring speech.
It was a simultaneous act: on one hand, Ajit Singh was speaking on political issues, and on the same dais, the dancer was performing to catcalls from teenagers.
As Ajit Singh finished his speech, the crowd of teenagers almost mobbed the dancer, and some of them even tore up her dress.
The dancers ran towards Ajit Singh, but police provided them the safety of a cover and put them in a car. Here too, the raucous teenagers tried to pull out the girls.
The dancers were taken to a businessman's house, where they changed their dresses and left.
Ajit Singh had come here to campaign for his party candidate Haji Yaqub Qureshi.
